Staff health and well-being Click to Toggle

We always support and encourage staff improve health and well-being. It’s important we look after our own health and well-being to deliver the best services possible to service users/patients and carers.

We offer a range of support around well-being. This includes an occupational health service, in-house physiotherapy, exercise classes, back care workshops, discounts to gyms and fitness including access to an NHS gym, and an employee assistance programme where you can access advice and support about a range of issues.

We also provide free access to a well-being website and app where you can monitor your well-being and fitness and set goals for improvement.

Staff gyms Click to Toggle

One of the great benefits of working for us is that you can have full use of the two gyms which are situated at Bradford Royal Infirmary (BRI) and St Luke’s Hospital.

When you join the gym, you will benefit from a full induction and health screening, advice on training and a personal programme to follow if desired. Instructors are on hand as much as possible to give you help along the way.

Employees who become a member of the gym can also take advantage of a further bonus of sharing the BRI gym by having a family member join as your guest (certain conditions apply and places are limited).

We offer a number of salary sacrifice schemes including childcare vouchers and a lease car scheme.

We also run a Cycle to Work scheme. You can hire a bicycle by sacrificing an amount of your salary which will be free from National Insurance and Tax contributions. It will save you money and helps you to keep fit.

 

Better Lives and Bradford Hospitals Charity staff lottery Click to Toggle

The lottery is run between our own Better Lives Charity and Bradford Teaching Charity.

Monthly prizes include cash of up to £500 with an additional £2500 to be won up to four times over the year.

NHS Pension Scheme Click to Toggle

The NHS Pension Scheme gives you pension benefits based on your earnings over your career. It also allows you to receive tax relief on your contributions, within certain limits, when you retire.

Holidays Click to Toggle

You will receive generous holiday entitlements. The amount of annual leave you receive on appointment is 27 days plus 8 Bank Holidays, rising to 29 + 8 after five years’ services and 33 + 8 after ten years’ service. Annual leave entitlements are reduced proportionally for staff who do not work full-time.
