About the service

We are an inpatient ward providing care to females aged 18 – 65 who are experiencing mental health difficulties.

We offer an assessment and treatment service to support you with the symptoms you may be experiencing associated with acute mental health. Our specialised team including registered mental health nurses, healthcare support workers and occupational therapists will help support you with personal care and structuring your day to support you with your recovery.

Bracken ward has 22 beds arranged across separate corridors for both men and women. All patients have their own bedroom, with key fob lock, enhancing privacy and dignity on the ward.

We are on the same site as Fern Ward (male acute ward) and Heather ward (female acute ward) and share some facilities, including dining areas, the gym and activities room.

From October 2024 all our in-patient sites have been smoke free facilities.

How to access

We accept referrals from GP’s, Community Mental Health services, and emergency admissions via A&E. Patients are admitted when they are experiencing mental health issues at the acute stage.
