‘Step into the NHS’ careers event

Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust is inviting local people to ‘Step into the NHS’ this March, at their interactive careers fair that will showcase exciting career opportunities in the NHS.

The event is on Saturday 4 March, 10.00am-3.00pm at The Bradford Hotel. It will be a lively, interactive day, with a marketplace for people to browse including pop-up stalls, workshops, talks, simulation stands and lots more.

Mental health nurses, community health teams, children’s services and learning disability teams will all be on-hand to answer questions and give advice, as well as a range of other professionals from health care and local universities such as physiotherapists, social workers and pharmacists.

Nisha Kaur, who joined the Care Trust as a mental health nurse last year, would encourage anyone thinking about what a role in the NHS could be like, to come to the event and find out more. Nisha said: “I would recommend working in the NHS to anyone who wants to make a difference.

“At the Care Trust, we are improving the health and wellbeing of communities in Bradford which are some of the most deprived in the UK. Also, as a BAME individual working in mental health, I know how important it is that we create a workforce that properly represents the communities we look after – and research shows this can improve quality of care.”

“Throughout my first 12 months I have been supported closely by my mentor and welcomed into my team. There have also been lots of learning opportunities so far and I’m glad I decided to become a mental health nurse. I really encourage anyone considering it to come and work in the NHS.”

On the day, people will be able to chat to staff from the Care Trust like Nisha about their work and find out more about what it’s like to work in both clinical and non-clinical roles.

The event is aimed at young people who are considering career choices, anyone making university applications for healthcare courses, current pre-registration students looking for information around first destination roles, individuals interested in volunteering or volunteer to career opportunities, and anyone looking for more information on any current vacancies at the Care Trust.

It’s free to attend, and people are invited to book their place in advance on Eventbrite, or simply come along and sign up on the day.
