People in the Bradford, Wharfedale, Airedale or Craven are getting help to beat stress with free ‘stress buster’ sessions which will be delivered in Urdu.

The Care Trust has been keen to engage with the local Asian community to provide culturally appropriate courses and has visited mosques and business in the local community to highlight the 45 minute sessions, run by MyWellbeing College.  Classes will take place at Carlisle Business Centre on 10 April with separate sessions for males at 2pm and females at 10am.

Stress is part of everyday life and can be beneficial; it can get us out of bed in the morning and motivates us throughout the day.  But high levels over a long period can be bad for our health leaving us feeling irritable with friends and family, anxious, tired, unable to sleep and feeling that there are not enough hours in the day to get things done.

Factors such as heavy workloads, moving house, bereavement, getting married, relationship issues, money worries, low mood and health issues are all circumstances that can result in stress.

MyWellbeing College available at www.bmywellbeingcollege.nhs.uk will help people navigate their way through life’s ups and downs and is holding a series of quick stress buster sessions aimed at spotting the early signs and providing people with the tools they need to manage stress.

During the sessions course participants will find out more about stress, recognising the signs and physical symptoms, techniques to manage stress, including relaxation exercises, tips and techniques to do at home to give people a flavour of what is available through the MyWellbeing College.  Attendees will also hear about factors which contribute to stress, including caffeine and smoking.

Ahsim Jawed, who delivers courses through the MyWellbeing College said: “Stress can affect any of us at points in our lives, recognising the signs and attending a session can help people experiencing stress manage it more effectively.  People that have attended sessions have credited the course with getting them back on track and have enrolled on further courses to boost their wellbeing.”

The sessions will take place at Carlisle Business Centre, Bradford, BD8 8BD. For more details and to book a place on the course visit www. bmywellbeingcollege.nhs.uk/events/ or call 01274 221 234.
