Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust is celebrating after being shortlisted for a national award.

The safety risk and resilience team  has been named as a finalist in the clinical governance and risk management in the patient safety category of the Patient Safety Awards 2017.

The awards are some of the most prestigious and sought after awards in UK health. They champion the best practice and innovation needed by healthcare providers to overcome the challenges that face the sector.

Lynn Pearl, Safety, Risk and Resilience Manager, said: “We have reviewed the way incidents are reports and introduced new ways to engage staff to use the information to improve patient safety.

“On our wards key safety concerns are now discussed daily in ‘safety huddles’ which involves all staff on the wards. We produce a summary report for managers, with a more detailed report available for further information and we award certifications to celebrate milestone achievements.”

The team will now make a presentation to a judging panel made up of senior influential figures from the healthcare sector in May, before the winners are revealed in July.
