Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust is hosting an event encouraging people to manage minor ailments at home and choose healthy options such as eating well and keeping active, to improve their overall physical and mental health, and a sense of wellbeing this winter.

The event takes place Wednesday 16 November, during self-care week (14-20 November), 10am-12pm at Bradford City Football Club, Legends Suite and is for carers and people who use the Care Trust’s services.

Steve Gascoyne, Head of Adult Community Services at the Trust, said: “We want to support people to stay well; with winter now here it’s an opportunity to remind people to act quickly when seasonal illnesses strike.

“We will be providing helpful advice and support to allow people to stay well and choose health services that meet their needs. Please come along and join our staff to discuss self-care.”

The event will provide an opportunity for people to share ideas about staying well  and receive important self-care information from health teams which include district nurses, community matrons, speech and language therapy, foot health, continence and falls prevention.

As well as the event for people who use the Trust services and carers, the Trusts community health teams will also be offering advice and support to help people stay well throughout Self-Care Week at shopping centres and health centres.

Steve added: “Winter can be seriously bad for our health but there a number of things you can do to keep you and your family well this winter. Our staff will help to raise awareness of how you can do this.”
